How to grow chrysanthemums in winter

How to grow chrysanthemums in winter

1. South

Because the temperature in the south is not very low in winter, we can still cultivate it in the open air. After the flowers fall, we cut the stems fifteen centimeters from the ground, then water it, and then cover it with fallen leaves and soil, leaving a part of the stems exposed, and it can safely survive the winter.

2. North

Because the temperature in this area is relatively low, placing it outdoors is likely to cause its death. So we're going to move it inside the room. After moving it into the room, certain management measures must be taken.

3. Wintering Indoors

No matter where it is, if you want to move it indoors you need to follow the following points.

1. The temperature should not be too high, just keep it above zero degrees. The amount of watering should be controlled, and it should be done only after the soil in the pot is dry. Also, it cannot be watered too much at one time. Wait until the weather gradually gets warmer before slowly increasing the amount of water.

2. At the end of autumn and the beginning of winter, we can use the first generation of new shoots that have just grown from its roots as cutting materials. First, dig out the rhizomes with sprouts in the soil, then insert them into new pots, and then move them into the room.

3. The temperature in the room should not be too high, and we should not water it too much. Just keep the soil moist. Generally, you can move it outdoors in March or April of the second year. At this time, a new plant has grown perfectly and you can manage it normally.
