Hydroponic cuttings of jasmine

Hydroponic cuttings of jasmine

Hydroponic time

Hydroponics can be carried out all year round. When growing hydroponics, pay attention to providing shade in the summer to reduce exposure to the sun; in the winter, place the hydroponic containers in a sunny place indoors. During hydroponics, the temperature is controlled at 15~20℃, which ensures fast rooting and high survival rate.

Hydroponic cuttings

Choose strong branches with full buds grown in the current year for cuttings. The length of the branches is 8~12 cm, retain 2~4 nodes, and cut them off 2 cm from the bottom node. If there are too many leaves on the branches, trim them appropriately and keep 2 to 3 leaves to facilitate rooting. Bundle 10 branches.

Hydroponic Container

The container for hydroponic jasmine should be a wide-mouth bottle with a large diameter or shallow bottom, and the bottle should be cleaned before use.

Hydroponics Method

First, fill the container with rainwater, tap water or drinking water to a depth of 8 to 10 cm, which is 2/3 of the bottle.

Place the bundled cuttings in water at a depth of 4 to 6 cm.

Place the container outdoors in a ventilated, semi-shaded area, keep the water clean, and change the water every 3 to 5 days.

After 30 days, tumor-like healing tissue will grow at the incision, and fibrous roots will grow after 30 to 40 days.

Planting in time

Once the branches grow fibrous roots, the hydroponics is half successful. When the fibrous roots grow to 3 to 5 cm, transplant them in time.

Remove the branches from the water container, being careful not to damage the roots.

Check whether all the bundled branches have taken root, prune them appropriately, and plant them in the soil.

After planting, place the potted plants in the shade for 10 days, then move them to the sun for normal maintenance. After 10 days of acclimatization, the plants are more resistant and less susceptible to diseases and pests.
