How to grow succulents in spring so that they can bloom out of the pot?

When it comes to succulents, everyone is very familiar with them. They grow vigorously, have high ornamental value and are very popular. So how can you grow succulents in spring so that they can bloom out of the pot? Let’s learn more about it below.

1. Soil

Growing succulents is different from growing other flowers . They have fleshy stems and leaves, and are particularly prone to root rot and waterlogging. The soil used must be loose and breathable, so many people will use some granular materials to grow succulents. If the potting soil is too sticky and has poor permeability, it will affect normal growth. When growing succulents in spring, try to use loose and breathable culture soil, use more granular materials, and you can also add some leaf mold to increase the fertility of the soil. The potting soil must have good permeability and be rich in certain nutrients.

2. Change the soil

If you want your succulents to grow big and beautiful, change the soil in the spring. If you don’t change the soil for a long time, it will affect the growth of succulents because the nutrients in the old soil have been exhausted. Spring is the growing season for succulents, and they will grow better if they are replaced with new soil. When the soil in the pot of succulent plants is dry, remove them from the pot and trim off the dry and rotten capillary roots. Then let it air dry for three or two days, and when the wound has healed, you can put it in the pot.

3. Watering

Succulents need sufficient water in spring because they grow fast. Long-term water shortage will cause their roots to dry up and the seedlings to become stunted and stop growing. Although succulents store a lot of water and can survive without watering, if you want them to grow out of the pot, you should water them thoroughly after the soil in the pot is completely dry to keep the soil moist. Succulents grow fast in spring, their leaves become thick and full, and side buds keep sprouting.

4. Fertilization

If you want succulents to grow compactly with thick and full leaves, you must provide them with sufficient nutrients. If the nutrient supply is insufficient, the plant will be weak, the leaves will be thin and small, and it will not be easy to sprout new buds, let alone grow out of the pot. Although succulents do not need to be fertilized frequently, it is still necessary to apply some thin fertilizer during the growing season to make them grow more vigorously. Depending on the size of the plant in the pot, sprinkle a small amount of compound fertilizer in the pot, or water it with a thin succulent nutrient solution to maintain sufficient water and fertilizer so that the plant can grow quickly.

5. Rain

There is a lot of rain in spring, and all things cannot grow without the flushing of rain, and succulents are no exception. When spring comes and flowers bloom, as long as the temperature is above 10 to 15 degrees, quickly throw the succulents at home onto the terrace or yard. The succulents in the growing season will grow a circle after a rain, and you may be surprised to find new buds growing on them. But be careful that succulents cannot be exposed to rain for a long time. If it rains heavily continuously, it is easy for water to accumulate and cause root rot.

6. Adequate lighting

The growth of succulents cannot be separated from sunlight. Without sunlight, succulents will grow too tall and their stems and leaves will become loose. When growing succulents in spring, the plants are in their peak growth season and the light is relatively soft. You should move them to a sunny place as much as possible to get more sun and improve photosynthesis, which can make the plants grow faster, make the plant shape more compact and full, and be in better condition.
