Hydroponic method of freesia

Hydroponic method of freesia

Choosing a hydroponic vase

In fact, if you are not going to cultivate the hydroponic flowers for a long time, you don’t need to be very particular about the vase, an ordinary glass bottle will do. It is best to have a transparent one so that you can clearly see what is inside the bottle.

Colonization

For freesia bulbs, there is no need to go through the tedious process. Just disinfect the bulbs before planting and then place them directly in the flowerpot.

You can put 2 to 3 bulbs in the bottle, arrange them evenly, put some pebbles in the empty spaces, and try not to leave any gaps. If the bulbs are uneven in size, try to arrange them to make them look more attractive, as this affects the shape of the plant after it grows.

Maintenance

The water in the bottle should cover the roots of the bulbs and place the bottle in the sun. Soon the bulbs will grow white fibrous roots and tender yellow buds. This is the critical period for maintenance:

Change the water once a week. If it is tap water, it should be left in the house for a period of time before use. Add a few drops of nutrient solution to the water each time you change the water. Water and nutrient solution are basically everything for the life of hydroponic freesia and must be replenished in time.

When tender green shoots grow from the bulbs, place the plants in the sun and get more sun exposure to increase the chlorophyll in the leaves, ensuring that the new leaves are tender green and shiny.

Every time you change the water, clean the bottom of the bottle with pressurized water and trim the roots, removing unhealthy or even rotten roots.

When the plant grows luxuriantly, in order to promote its flowering, you can add a small amount of potassium dihydrogen phosphate to the water.

It takes longer to grow freesia in water, and its flowering is different from that of freesia grown in soil. As long as you persevere, even if you miss the best planting time, hydroponics can still produce beautiful flowers.
