What soil is best for tree stump bonsai?

Soil factors:

In addition to the fact that different plants grow in different soils, their growing environment is also a factor in choosing soil. In fact, the growth of tree stump bonsai is mainly affected by the air, water and nutrients in the soil. So what kind of soil should be used to contain air, water and nutrients?

Choose the best soil:

The best potting soil is one with suitable acidity and alkalinity, good drainage, breathability, looseness and fertility. You can also choose the soil according to the needs of the plants.

Soil preparation method:

Let’s take the common pine and cypress tree stump bonsai soil as an example. The method of preparing the soil is: 1 part of wood ash + 1 part of leaf mold + 3 parts of garden soil + 4 parts of peat soil + 1 part of sand, mix them all evenly and then you can plant plants; the method of preparing the soil for other tree stumps is: 1 part of wood ash + 3 parts of leaf mold + 2 parts of garden soil + 3 parts of peat soil + 0.5 part of sand, mix them all evenly and then you can plant plants.

Soil treatment:

However, before planting, the soil must be disinfected, sterilized and insecticidal before planting can be carried out. If you have the conditions, you can try the following method: pour all the mixed soil into a large pot and fry it. Try to maintain the temperature in the pot at 80 degrees. Stir while frying. This is more effective than using drugs to kill viruses, bacteria and insects.

If the tree stump is obtained from the mountains and wilds, all the original soil must be cleaned off before transplanting it into the flowerpot, and then the soil suitable for the variety of the tree stump must be selected and mixed.
