Cultivation methods and precautions of Tithonia suspensa

Cultivation methods and precautions of Tithonia suspensa

1. Soil

The swellonia has strong adaptability and can grow even in poor soil. However, it will grow more vigorously and its flowers will bloom more beautifully if it is grown in fertile, moist, loose sandy soil.

2. Lighting

It likes light, so try to place it in a sunny place during maintenance. It should be exposed to light for at least 4 hours a day, otherwise it will affect its normal growth. Especially in winter, when the temperature is low, we need sunlight even more.

3. Watering

You don't need to water it too frequently during maintenance and management, as it does not require much water. Watering should be a combination of dry and wet. More water can be added during the spring and summer growing season to maintain growth and development. When the temperature is low in winter, it will go into dormancy. At this time, you need to control the watering, or even not water it. A slightly dry environment is more conducive to wintering.

4. Fertilization

During the growing period, fertilize frequently and supplement nutrients. Fertilizer and water should be applied starting from August, and fertilizer should be sprayed on the leaves in autumn to promote flowering. Be sure to note that it is best to apply diluted fertilizer water when fertilizing, and do not use granular fertilizer directly.

5. Notes

During maintenance, you should pay attention to controlling water during the flowering period, and you don’t need to water it if the soil is not dry. If you find yellowing or diseased branches and leaves, you must cut them off immediately to prevent them from continuing to consume nutrients and possibly infecting diseases. In addition, diseased plants must be disinfected.
