How to fertilize calamus

How to fertilize calamus

Does calamus need fertilizer?

Please don’t laugh at me for asking such a low-level question. The reason is that it is very difficult to judge the right and wrong of the plant calamus. If you don't fertilize it, it will easily lead to lack of nutrition, causing the leaves to turn yellow and lose their luster; if you fertilize it, calamus is particularly intolerant to fertilizer, and if you don't control it well, it is easy to over-fertilize.

Therefore, during the cultivation process, you should first observe your calamus. If it grows well and the above-ground part is lush and green, it means that the base fertilizer in the soil of the flowerpot can meet its needs, and there is no need to add additional fertilizer. On the contrary, if the plant grows slowly and the leaves above ground are in poor health, you will need to add some fertilizer as soon as possible.

What fertilizer to apply

The most suitable fertilizer for the growth of calamus is nitrogen fertilizer, and liquid fertilizer is best, such as decomposed bean cake water. It is the favorite fertilizer of calamus. It is not only beneficial to its growth, but also will not burn the roots underneath.

How to fertilize

It is recommended that you fertilize calamus once every half a month during the growing period. And when adding fertilizer, remove the weeds in the flowerpot. Repeat this two or three times. Before the flowering period arrives, you can add a little phosphorus and potassium fertilizer to enhance immunity and resist viral invasion.
