What to do if the leaves of Areca palm turn yellow

What to do if the leaves of Areca palm turn yellow

1. Water properly

The stems and leaves of Areca palm grow tall, and the nutrients and water needed by the leaves are mainly transported by the rhizomes. If you water more often, the roots can absorb more quickly, which is beneficial to the growth of leaves. However, if the soil is too moist, it will weaken the respiration of the roots, hinder the absorption of water, and eventually cause the leaves to turn yellow.

Too much water is not good, and too little water is not good either. It needs sufficient water during the growth process. If the soil lacks water for a long time, the water necessary for its growth will be difficult to guarantee, which will also cause the leaves to turn yellow.

Therefore, you should control the amount of watering reasonably at normal times. Do not water too much or too little.

2. Avoid direct sunlight

It needs sufficient sunlight for normal growth, but when the sunlight is too strong in summer, appropriate shade should be provided. If no shade is provided during this period, the leaves of the plant will easily be burned by the sunlight. This is the common sunscald disease of plants in summer, and the leaves will become scorched and yellow. If effective measures are not taken in time, the entire plant will wither.

So in summer you can move the plants into a cool place or under a big tree, away from direct sunlight.

3. Prevent and control pests and diseases

Spider mites, scale insects, etc. are harmful insects that it is more susceptible to infection. When its leaves are infected with scale insects or spider mites, the pests will cause damage to the plant and its leaves will begin to turn yellow. Once discovered, it must be treated with medication in time, otherwise it may cause death.
