How to grow raspberries in pots

How to grow raspberries in pots

Raw materials

flowerpot

The best depth of the flower pot is 35cm to 40cm. Wooden pots and clay pots are also acceptable as long as they have drainage holes at the bottom.

soil

Potted planting can easily limit raspberries, so you must use soil that is both fertile and breathable. Organic soil rich in humus is best. You can prepare it yourself by following a combination of three parts rotten leaves, five parts garden soil, and two parts livestock manure.

Seed source

Seeds, plants or divisions are all acceptable.

step

Pot preparation

First put the mixed potting soil into the flowerpot to ensure that the soil has good air permeability.

Planting seedlings

The best time to plant potted raspberries is early spring and late autumn, generally before germination and after leaf fall. Place the prepared raspberry seedlings into the potting soil at an appropriate position and depth. Try to stretch the roots of the raspberries as much as possible, cover them with soil, compact them with your hands, and water them thoroughly. Then place them in a warm and humid air environment to grow.

Branch pruning

When the seedlings are 3 to 5 cm tall, cut them flat, and then pinch the tops of the new seedlings when they are 20 cm tall to promote the growth of new side branches. Repeat the pinching when the side branches are 20 cm tall. Repeat the operation until autumn, and the raspberries will bloom and bear fruit in the second year.

Watering

Water the plants every two or three days in spring, increase the frequency of watering in summer, but do not use too much water. Reduce the frequency of watering in autumn, but ensure the amount of water. Water the plants thoroughly each time, but do not flood them.

Pests and diseases

Raspberries have strong resistance to insect pests. If insect pests occur, they can be dealt with in time without having to worry about prevention and control.

Winter management

Raspberries will hibernate in winter, and the temperature must be kept between -5-5℃ during the dormant period. If the temperature is too high, it will germinate prematurely; if the temperature is too low, it will be damaged by frost.
