How to grow Metasequoia bonsai

How to grow Metasequoia bonsai

soil

Metasequoia prefers warm and humid climatic conditions, and mostly grows in places with flat terrain, deep soil, moisture or slight water accumulation. Therefore, when choosing the cultivation soil, you should choose acidic mountain yellow soil or purple soil, mixed with peat soil and other breathable substrates for cultivation.

illumination

Metasequoia loves light. Under sufficient light conditions, its leaves will be dark green and lush, which will make it look vibrant. Therefore, it can be placed outdoors to receive sufficient light, and in winter, the bonsai can be moved indoors to a windowsill with scattered light.

Fertilization

Metasequoia bonsai needs to be moderately dwarfed, so base fertilizer can be applied before planting, and fertilizer can be applied again when the plant starts to grow. Do not fertilize too early, because premature fertilization will cause "indigestion" of the Metasequoia tree stump. It should be noted that during the later maintenance process, do not apply too much fertilizer, just ensure the normal growth needs of the plant, apply appropriate thin liquid fertilizer, which can promote the vigorous growth of fibrous roots and branches and leaves, and be careful not to damage the roots.

Water supply

After planting Metasequoia, water it regularly, and adhere to the principle of watering when the soil is dry and water it thoroughly each time.

Post-maintenance

Metasequoia bonsai is very easy to survive and maintain. However, diseased and dead branches should be pruned in time, and overly long branches should be shortened.
