Planet's Family Farming Method

The soil of the planet (pocket)

The most difficult part of planting plants that originally grew in the wild in pots is preparing the soil. It is very important to choose soil that retains water without being too wet and has good drainage. In terms of water retention, soil composed mainly of Akadama soil is very good and can grow thick roots that grow vertically downward. The roots of the plants planted in sand-based soil are relatively thin. Secondly, in order to drain water, the soil must be screened to remove particles. In this way, the problem of root rot caused by excessive watering will be solved, but there will also be the problem of the soil drying out easily, which can only be solved by adjusting the rhythm of watering yourself.

About watering the planet

The planet loves water very much, so it is better to keep the soil moist at all times. The growing period from April to October is about 3 days (Note: this is talking about the full-sun shed environment, don't copy it), water it from the top once, and the dormant period in winter is also 2 weeks (Note: this is also talking about the shed environment), water it once. Completely cutting off water is physiologically bad for you and is the reason why you get creases around your waist. Abundant sunlight and strong root system help the plant survive the cold winter.

About the flowerpot for planting planets (pockets)

From an aesthetic point of view, there is nothing wrong with choosing pottery or other pots. But from the perspective of cultivation, it is recommended that you use black plastic orchid pots. Although the ventilation is poor, there will be no problem if you use the above soil. There is nothing better than a plastic pot when it comes to heating up the pot. This is not limited to Dou. The root growth of all cactus plants is inseparable from the rise in ground temperature. Warming the pot is an important thing and in this regard, black plastic pots are ideal. Also, keep a distance between flower pots, and always remember to give the flower pots plenty of sunlight.

About Planetary Illumination

The planet likes a warm, sunny environment, so be sure to keep it in sufficient light. In winter, keep the temperature no lower than 5 degrees Celsius to prevent frostbite. Be careful to prevent sunburn during the hot summer months.

Planet (Pocket) breeding method

Commonly used propagation methods are sowing and grafting.

Sowing: It is usually sown in indoor pots in spring. It will germinate 3 to 5 days after sowing, and the seedlings will bloom after 3 to 4 years.

Grafting: It is carried out in May and June. The commonly used rootstocks are scutellaria or ophiopogon as rootstocks, and the scion is the sown seedling. It will bloom in the second year after grafting.

Fertilization of the Planet

Fertilize once a month during the growing season.

About root pruning and repotting

For pots smaller than medium, the soil should be changed every year, and for large pots, it is okay to change the soil once every two years.
The method is to put fermented chicken manure as base fertilizer on the coarse soil at the bottom of the pot, and spread coarse soil on the surface of the pot to prevent the soil below from being lost when watering. Plant slightly deeper to add weight.

From experience, repotting will not fail between mid-April and July. The roots of the thrush need a high temperature of around 40°C (around 15°C at night) to start moving, and such a temperature cannot be reached in March. The palm tree blooms in late February. If you repot it with other palm plants in early spring, the roots will suffer from red rot due to the low temperature and high humidity. This kind of failure has often happened in the past. The reason why it has to be done until July is to allow the root system to fully grow by winter and prevent the fatal injury of the pocket - the occurrence of waist crease. Once the crease occurs, it will recover in the spring, but it will occur year after year and cannot be completely cured.

The method of root pruning is to shake off the soil on the roots, remove the thin roots by hand, and cut off the thick roots at the bottom of the ball 2 to 3 cm away with a razor blade. Let it dry for a week before planting. When pruning roots, check whether there is red rot on the cross section of the roots. If there is, remove it all.

In addition to the methods mentioned above, there is another method of root pruning, which is to completely remove the root from the root zone. In mid-February, pull the pods out of the soil, completely remove the roots and place them indoors to dry, then plant them in mid-March. This method can reduce the rot of the pods, but it is based on having a greenhouse and being able to control the temperature.

About the disease of the pocket

The bag is prone to red rot, which is not caused by bacteria and should be considered from a physiological perspective. Low temperature + insufficient sunlight + high humidity will inevitably cause red rot. The roots of the mulberry tree have their subtle features. They are highly resistant to diseases caused by common bacteria, so there is no need to use fungicides.
