Management methods of firecracker bamboo potted plants

Management Notice

Basin

When potting seedlings or repotting established plants, first use coarse-grained substrate to create a 2-3 cm thick water filter layer at the bottom of the pot.

Sprinkle a layer of base fertilizer about 1-2 cm thick on it (fully decomposed organic fertilizer can be used), and then cover it with a layer of substrate with a remaining thickness of 1-2 cm.

Plant the plants, but do not allow the roots to come into direct contact with fertilizer to avoid root burn.

prune

The dormant and semi-dormant periods of firecracker bamboo (firecracker bamboo) occur in winter, so weak branches, diseased branches, dead branches and overly dense branches should be cut off.

At the same time, you can also use the cutting method to further trim the branches.

Remove from the basin

First, place the pot to be replaced on the ground, tap the pot gently from the edges on all sides to allow the roots to separate from the pot wall due to the vibration, then invert the pot and place it on your left hand, use your left index and middle fingers to lightly pinch the plant, support the edge of the pot with your wrist and fingertips, and continuously tap the bottom of the pot with your right hand. Finally, insert your thumb through the bottom hole to press the root soil down to allow the plant to escape.

After successfully removing the plant from the pot, use your palms to knock off the excess soil.

Repotting

Generally, under reasonable maintenance methods, the growth of firecracker bamboo (firecracker bamboo) is very rapid. When it grows to a certain extent, it can be repotted and planted in a larger pot so that the plant can continue to grow vigorously.

The culture soil can be made from the ratio of garden soil slag (3:1) or garden soil: medium-coarse river sand: sawdust (4:1:2), or one of paddy soil, pond mud and leaf mold can be selected.
