How to cultivate the willow

Soil selection

The Bellflower cannot adapt to acidic soil and can grow healthily in neutral or alkaline soil. It prefers fertile sandy soil with excellent drainage, good air permeability and containing lime.

Light and temperature

The Bellflower likes light and grows best in an environment with sufficient light, moist air and good ventilation. However, the willow of hookthorn is not heat-resistant, so do not provide adequate shade in the summer to prevent direct sunlight from damaging the flowers and leaves of the willow of hookthorn.

Water and fertilizer management

Watering: The soil for planting Penstemon sylvatica must have good drainage. If it is potted, you should choose a flowerpot with holes at the bottom. Put some gravel under the pot to prevent the soil from being too wet, which will cause the roots of Penstemon sylvatica to rot.

Fertilization: Pay attention to timely fertilization before and after the flowering of the Campanula, which can make its flowers larger and more colorful. After flowering, anti-cold measures should be taken to help it survive the winter smoothly.

Reproduction method

The bellflower can be propagated by sowing, cuttings, and division.

Things to note when raising bell willow

Disease prevention

The willow of Diaozhong will have a large number of axillary buds and adventitious buds, the internodes will become shorter, the leaves will turn yellow and become smaller, and clear veins will appear. The twigs will not fall off in winter and will become a bird's nest shape. Severely diseased plants will die in the same year, and mildly diseased plants will die after a few years. The disease is most severe in July and August every year.

Ring peeling of diseased branches in spring can prevent the pathogen from transferring and spreading to other parts, thus achieving a preventive and control effect.

How to spend the summer safely

The bellflower is cold-resistant and prefers a cool and humid environment, making it suitable for growing in the north. So what about those friends in the south who have a deep love for fishing bell willows?

As long as you provide adequate shade, good ventilation, and less fertilizer and watering, the Bellflower can still safely survive the summer. Friends in the south can raise them with confidence!
