It is better to grow vegetables than to grow flowers in winter. They are still green at -10℃. You don’t have to buy vegetables all winter!

spinach

Spinach is rich in nutrients and relatively cold-resistant, so it’s not too late to sow it now!

1. Soak the spinach seeds in 20-degree warm water for 10 hours, then take them out and dry them.

2. Use a small wooden stick to poke a one-centimeter-deep hole in the soil surface, and plant the soaked spinach seeds in it, with each seed 1 cm apart. After all seeds are planted, water them thoroughly.

3. It will sprout in about a week. At this time, you can move the flower pot to the balcony and get more sunlight. When it grows to 4 leaves, you can apply some decomposed organic fertilizer or commercially available nitrogen fertilizer to make it grow faster and more vigorously.

4. One week after fertilizing, the spinach leaves will be about 10 cm long. They are now ready to eat. The leaves are very tender. Put a few spinach leaves when cooking noodles in the morning. They taste delicious!

Shepherd's Purse

Shepherd's purse is a wild vegetable that likes cool weather. It is very easy to grow and tastes very delicious!

1. First water the soil thoroughly, then sprinkle shepherd's purse seeds and cover it with half a centimeter of soil. It is best to keep the temperature above 10 degrees. If the temperature is not reached, cover it with a layer of plastic wrap, poke a few small holes, and it will sprout in about 4 to 5 days.

2. Shepherd's purse is very easy to grow after it sprouts. Just water it once every 2 to 3 days and pull out the weeds.

3. You can eat it around the Spring Festival. It’s great for making dumplings or soup!

Chicken Feather Vegetable

Chicken feather vegetables are also relatively cold-resistant and can still be grown now. When you make soup at home, you can pick a few leaves and put them in. It tastes very good!

How to plant chicken feather vegetables:

1. Sprinkle the seeds on the soil surface, then sprinkle a 1cm layer of soil, then water thoroughly and wait for germination. If it is cold indoors, you can wrap the flower pot with a layer of plastic wrap and poke a few small holes to keep it warm.

2. It will sprout in about 2 to 3 days. Remove the small and weak seedlings and leave only some strong seedlings. Water it every day and place it on a balcony with sufficient sunlight for maintenance.

3. In less than two weeks, it will grow to the size shown in the picture below, and you can eat it in a few days. It is delicious whether it is made into soup or stir-fried with minced garlic!

Wutacai

The first thing I want to recommend is Wutacai, also known as Tacai and black vegetable, which has a crispy and tender texture. It is also very cold-resistant and can survive the winter at -10℃. It tastes even better after frost and snow!

Planting method of cassia:

1. Buy a pack of wutacai seeds, sprinkle them into the flowerpot, cover with 1 cm of soil, water thoroughly, and place in a well-lit and ventilated location.

2. After the wutacai seedlings grow, thinning should be carried out, and weak seedlings should be pulled out. The seedlings should be exposed to more sunlight and the soil should be kept moist.

3. After about a month, the wutacai can be eaten. Start picking from the outer layer and leave the heart to continue growing. The wutacai can be eaten while it grows. Pick some and stir-fry it, it is delicious!
