Why lilies don't bloom, what to do if they don't bloom

Why lilies don't bloom, what to do if they don't bloom

1. The bulb is too small

Reason: The size of the bulbs can affect flowering. If the bulbs planted are relatively small, they contain very few nutrients and will not bloom normally with later maintenance.

Solution: Be sure to choose good bulbs before planting, with a diameter of at least 3 cm. Screen out those that are too small and wait until they grow up before planting.

2. Not enough light

Reason: Sunlight is an important factor in promoting flowering. If there is a lack of sunlight, it will be difficult to synthesize nutrients and normal flowering will not be possible.

Solution: Lily is a plant that loves light. During the process of growth and flowering, it needs sufficient sunlight to promote the germination of flower buds. During the growth period, it must be placed in a place with good light and fully exposed to sunlight.

3. No Vernalization

Reason: Before lily bulbs germinate, they need to go through a low-temperature vernalization process to promote the differentiation of flower buds. If the temperature is too high at the time, the bulbs will not undergo normal vernalization and will not be able to bloom.

Solution: During the vernalization period, the surrounding temperature needs to be lowered to below 5 degrees Celsius and maintained for more than 45 days to complete vernalization normally and differentiate flower buds before flowering.

4. Too much watering

Reason: Too much water will cause the branches and leaves to grow too long while the flowers will have difficulty blooming.

Solution: Control water reasonably and don’t water too much before and after flowering.
