1. Too much wateringReason: The root system of Sansevieria is not very developed and its ability to absorb water is not strong. Too much watering can easily cause the roots to be flooded, causing the leaves to rot. Solution: If there is water accumulation in the potting soil, you need to drain the water first. Then remove the plant from the pot, remove some of the old soil, and check the root system. If the roots are rotten, trim them with sterilized scissors and soak the wound with carbendazim. After a period of time, take it out and dry it, then replant it in new soil. 2. The temperature is too lowReason: The wintering temperature of Sansevieria cannot be lower than 3℃, otherwise it will easily be frostbitten, causing rot spots on the leaves. Solution: The suitable growth temperature for Sansevieria is 20-28℃, and it can also grow slowly at around 8℃. It needs proper insulation in winter. You can put it in a warm place indoors or put a plastic bag on it. 3. Too much lightReason: Sansevieria is afraid of exposure to the sun and heat. In high temperature seasons, the leaves are easily sunburned, resulting in rot spots. Solution: Provide shade for the snake plant in summer, or place it in a cool place. However, long-term absence of light is not good for its growth and will cause the leaves to darken in color. It needs to be placed in a sunny place in the early morning or evening, and put back at noon. 4. Fertilizer is too concentratedReason: Fertilizer that is too concentrated can easily burn the roots of the snake plant, making it unable to absorb water and nutrients, resulting in rotten spots on the leaves. Solution: If the burned roots are not treated in time, they will easily rot. You need to take the plant out of the pot, cut off the rotten roots, and then soak it in disinfectant. The potting soil can be rinsed with water to dilute the fertilizer in it. You can also change the soil and replant it. Do not water it immediately after planting. Wait until it has adapted to the pot before watering it. |
