How to save the green radish if it is frozen to death

How to save the green radish if it is frozen to death

1. Pruning branches and leaves

When the green radish is frozen in winter, the upper part of the plant will stop growing and turn yellow and wither. At this time, the roots are still growing well. In order to avoid wasting water and nutrients, you need to cut off the entire upper part and only keep 1-2 buds above the potting soil.

2. Thermal insulation and maintenance

Place the trimmed green radish in a well-ventilated place with diffuse light, and water it thoroughly after the soil turns white. If you want to keep it moist, you can also cover it with plastic wrap and poke a few holes for ventilation. Generally, it will germinate in about 1-2 weeks, begin to slowly accept light, and with appropriate watering, it will resume growth after 1 month.

3. Select leaves

Do not discard the trimmed leaves, some of them can be used to plant another pot through cuttings. Choose leaves that are not yellowing or withered. Keep a small branch on each leaf, and there must be aerial roots on the branches. Without aerial roots, the plant cannot survive.

4. Take cuttings

Prepare a flowerpot of suitable size and mix the potting soil with peat soil and perlite in a ratio of about 3:1. Insert the selected green radish leaves into the flowerpot and place them in a circle around the edge of the pot. Then water it thoroughly and place it in a semi-shaded and ventilated place. After it sprouts new buds, increase the light and water it appropriately, and it will soon grow into a pot.
