The fastest way to root ginkgo cuttings

The fastest way to root ginkgo cuttings

Ginkgo cutting time

In spring and autumn, it is more suitable to take cuttings of ginkgo, because the temperature is suitable, neither too high nor too low, and the survival rate is the highest. In spring, you can choose the newly sprouted ginkgo branches, and in autumn, you can choose the fallen ginkgo branches for cuttings.

Simple method of ginkgo cuttings

Choose strong ginkgo branches, among which two-year-old branches have the highest rooting rate for cuttings. Cut the ginkgo branches into several small sections of 15-18 cm in length and soak the bottom of the branches in rooting powder solution for 30 minutes.

Prepare loose and breathable nutrient soil, insert the processed ginkgo branches into the wet soil, compact the soil around the branches with your hands, and if conditions permit, cover the potted plants with plastic bags to keep them warm and moist, and open for ventilation every day at noon.

Ginkgo cutting rooting method

For newly grafted ginkgo cuttings, pay more attention to whether the surface of the potting soil turns white. If it turns white and dry, you can water it.

After the ginkgo branches are successfully grafted, they can be transplanted into potting soil. After planting, place the pot in a well-ventilated place with diffused light. Increase the sunlight to full sun after a week. Then, as the plant grows, provide nutrients to the ginkgo slowly.

How long it takes for ginkgo cuttings to take root is not fixed. Some are well managed and provide a suitable environment, and the roots will grow in a week or two, while others need about a month. After cutting, you can cover the plastic film, open it regularly for ventilation every day, and spray water frequently to keep it moist, so that the roots will take root quickly.

Use diffuse light maintenance until the branches of the ginkgo tree show obvious growth trends, which means that the branches of the ginkgo tree have taken root. At this time, you can gradually increase the light.
