Why are the tips of orchid leaves turning black?

Why are the tips of orchid leaves turning black?

1. Too much watering

Reason: Too much watering causes the roots to be flooded, making them unable to breathe and causing rot, which can turn the leaf tips black.

Solution: If there is still water in the flowerpot, you need to drain the water first. Remove the plant from its pot and check to see if its roots are waterlogged and rotten. After cutting off the rotten roots, replant with dry soil. Before planting, you can soak it in carbendazim for disinfection.

2. Too much light

Reason: Orchids prefer a semi-shaded environment. If the light is too strong, it can easily cause the leaves to be burned and the tips to turn black.

Solution: Place the orchid in a cool environment and wait for it to recover slowly. After it recovers, let it see the light properly. It can be placed in a place with scattered light, which will not only not harm it but also help it to photosynthesize.

3. Fertilizer is too concentrated

Reason: Fertilizer concentration is too high, which can easily cause root burns, thus affecting the absorption of water and nutrients and causing the leaf tips to turn black.

Solution: After the concentrated fertilizer burns the roots, you need to remove the plant from the pot and wash off some of the old soil with clean water. Check and trim any burned roots, then apply wood ash to disinfect the plant and replant it in new soil. Apply fertilizer in moderation daily and dilute it thoroughly before use to avoid root burn again.

4. The temperature is too low

Reason: Orchids grow best in an environment of 15-25℃. If the temperature is too low, the orchids will be frostbitten, causing the tips of the leaves to turn black.

Solution: Place the orchid in a warmer area indoors. Don't put it in a place with too high temperature immediately. If the temperature difference is too large, it will easily cause secondary damage to the roots.
