The buds of azaleas wither. Why do azaleas wither in summer?

The buds of azaleas wither. Why do azaleas wither in summer?

1. Exposure to the scorching sun

Reason: Azalea cannot withstand too strong sunlight, otherwise it will burn the branches and leaves, and also damage the flowers, causing them to wither.

Solution: Place the azalea in a location with diffused light, or shade it from strong sunlight. Generally in summer, azaleas can be exposed to light in the early morning or evening, and can be moved indoors at other times. Remember not to place it in a sunny place at noon, as it will cause great harm to it.

2. High temperature

Reason: High temperatures will inhibit its growth, the plant will lose water quickly, and the flowers will wither.

Solution: Generally, azaleas are cooled by watering. Fill a spray bottle with clean water and use it to spray the leaves. Don't spray too much to avoid the formation of water droplets. At the same time, you can also sprinkle water on the ground, which can absorb heat through evaporation and increase the humidity of the air.

3. Insufficient watering

Reason: Rhododendrons require a lot of water before blooming. Once the water supply is insufficient, it will easily lead to poor development and cause the flower buds to wither.

Solution: Water more before flowering to ensure sufficient water supply and keep the soil moist. In addition, there are certain requirements for water quality, the temperature needs to be appropriate, and tap water must be left to dry for a few days before use.

4. Excessive fertilization

Reason: Azalea likes fertilizer very much, but if too much fertilizer is applied or the fertilizer is too concentrated, it will cause root burns and cause the flower buds to wither.

Solution: If the fertilizer has burned the roots, first remove the plant from the pot, cut off the rotten roots with sterilized scissors, and soak it in carbendazim for a period of time. Replant in a new pot and fill with new soil and compact it firmly. If the burn is not serious, you can clean the soil and dilute the fertilizer in the pot.
