How to save the fortune tree if its roots are rotten

How to save the fortune tree if its roots are rotten

1. Analyze the situation

Root rot is usually caused by excessive watering and low temperatures. Generally, the plants will be frostbitten at a low temperature of around 5 degrees. Therefore, it is necessary to move it indoors in time in winter and provide a suitable temperature, so that this can basically be avoided.

2. Remove rotten roots

If only the roots are rotten, you can cut off the rotten part in time and soak it in disinfectant for more than half an hour to thoroughly disinfect it. Then re-prepare the nutrient soil for maintenance, and it can take root and survive again. But if the main trunk has also rotted, there is basically no hope of saving it. To judge, you can gently press the bark of the main trunk. If it has become soft or has accumulated water, it proves that it has rotted.

3. Handling the incision

When removing rotten roots, use a sharp knife and disinfect it first to avoid reinfection. After cutting, apply wood ash on the wound and place it in a cool place to dry for two hours. Apply rooting powder before potting, which will make it easier to survive.

4. Potting and Maintenance

When potting, prepare new nutrient soil and avoid using the original soil. Place broken tiles on the bottom of the pot to improve drainage, and also make sure the original pot is disinfected. After the replacement, pay attention to the amount of watering, and there must be no water accumulation in the later stage. In addition, we must also pay attention to the low temperature in winter, which is best controlled above 15 degrees.
