Why is the winter jasmine not blooming?

Why is the winter jasmine not blooming?

1. Apply phosphate fertilizer

1. Reason: If there is too much nitrogen fertilizer and relatively little phosphorus fertilizer, the winter jasmine will most likely continue to grow leaves without blooming. Because nitrogen fertilizer can easily promote the growth of branches and leaves, and excessive amount may also cause it to be lost. Phosphorus plays a relatively large role in the formation of flower buds, making it easier to bloom.

2. Solution: Two months before it blooms, apply an appropriate amount of phosphorus fertilizer. It is best to bury the fertilizer at the edge of the pot. This can prevent fertilizer damage and make it easier to bloom.

2. Supplementary lighting

1. Reason: It is difficult for forsythia to bloom indoors. The main reason is that the light it receives is relatively weak, so it is difficult to produce nutrients, resulting in few or even no flowers.

2. Solution: At this time, we need to be more diligent every day and move it outside the house to dry in the sun for an hour or two. Of course, it is best to be in the morning and evening sun, which will help it bloom.

3. Timely pruning

1. Reason: A big part of the reason why it doesn’t bloom may be that it is not pruned much. Because if its branches have bloomed, they will not bloom again. If we don't prune them, some old branches will grow very vigorously, and the new branches will not grow much, so it will naturally be difficult for them to bloom.

2. Solution: Prune it after it blooms. Cut off the denser, dryer and older branches, and shorten the overgrown branches, which will facilitate its next flowering.

4. Supplement water and fertilizer

1. Reason: If there is insufficient water and fertilizer, there will be insufficient nutrients. Without nutrients, it is difficult for the plant to bloom.

2. Solution: When it grows rapidly, you should apply fertilizer to it every fifteen days or so. Each time you apply it, you need to be careful to use thin fertilizer, not too thick. It should also be noted that organic fertilizer needs to be used before flowering, so that the flowers will be larger and last longer. Of course, you still need to water it, but the amount must be controlled and not excessive.
