What to do if hyacinth leaves turn black

What to do if hyacinth leaves turn black

1. Reasons

1. Frostbite

Its bulbs are very cold-resistant and can generally adapt to very low temperatures, but the leaves cannot. If it is left in a low temperature environment for too long, its leaves will be frozen and turn black.

2. Too dry

When the environment in which it is grown is too dry, there is no moisture in the air, or there are high temperatures around it, its leaves may turn black.

3. The temperature is too high

When the temperature is too high, it may not be able to withstand the high temperature, causing abnormal physiological metabolism and causing its leaves to turn black.

4. Root rot

This situation often occurs in hydroponic plants. It may be unable to absorb enough nutrients due to root rot, and the leaves will turn black due to lack of nutrients.

II. Measures

In view of the above reasons, we give solutions one by one:

1. If its leaves are frostbitten, we need to observe it, find all its frostbitten and blackened leaves, and cut them off with scissors. Then place it in a slightly warmer place for a few days to acclimate it, and after it adapts, raise the temperature a few degrees. In this way, the temperature gradient is slowly increased, gradually raising the temperature to about 15℃, which is suitable for its growth.

2. If there is a high temperature source around it, you need to move it or the high temperature source away. If the environment is too dry, you need to use a spray bottle to spray some water mist into the air around it to increase the humidity.

3. In this case, you need to lower the room temperature to about 15℃, or simply move it to a cool room for breeding.

4. This situation is more troublesome. First you need to remove it, cut off the rotten roots, and disinfect it with disinfectant to prevent infection. Then carry out soil cultivation. Be careful not to use hydroponics, otherwise its roots will still rot.
