What to do if Clematis is infected with white rot

Symptoms of Clematis Sclerotium

The first time I discovered white rot was on a Snow White plant that had been growing for two years. Some strange things appeared on the surface of the soil in the pot, yellowish-brown, grainy, like rapeseed. After ruling out vegetable seeds, I wondered if it was some kind of insect eggs. Gradually, the whole plant wilted. When we dug up the soil in the pot, we found that the originally strong fleshy roots had all rotted away like rotten straw. Not only that, the fungus of this disease can survive in the soil for many years and infect plants in large numbers, transmitting viruses.

What to do if Clematis has white rot

Therefore, once white rot is discovered, the entire pot and the soil must be thrown away. However, based on the nature of not liking extravagance and waste, it is recommended to keep the flower pot, wash it clean and expose it to the sun for disinfection, and then plant other plants in the flower pot after a few months.

For plants with less severe disease, the upper branches can be cut off and inserted into the variety hydroponics. It will take root soon. When pruning, try to cut as short as possible to prevent the branches from carrying fungi.

While treating, you should also pay attention to prevention, keep healthy plants away from diseased plants, and spray fungicides. Under normal circumstances, spraying once a month can effectively inhibit the emergence of fungi.
