What to do if Silver Queen's leaves droop and become soft in winter

What to do if Silver Queen's leaves droop and become soft in winter

1. Temperature control

The suitable temperature for Silver Queen is 20 to 24 degrees. When the temperature rises to 30 degrees, it will stop growing. The drooping of leaves in winter may be due to low room temperature. In winter, the Silver Queen should be moved to a warm place. The indoor temperature should be controlled at around 10 degrees and not lower than 5 degrees. Temperatures below 5 degrees will affect the shape of the leaves and may cause frostbite, causing the leaves to naturally become weak and droop.

2. Lighting control

The Silver Queen itself is a shade-loving plant. The best growing environment is a semi-shady environment. The Silver Queen itself is also very shade-tolerant. Silver Queen needs to be shaded. Too much direct sunlight will cause the leaves to shrink and lack water, and will also burn the leaves. However, in winter, it is more likely that there is insufficient light. We just need to maintain sufficient light and often place the Silver Queen on the balcony to bask in the sun. Lack of light will definitely make the leaves appear unhealthy.

3. Control watering

The amount of watering for Silver Queen should be just enough to keep the soil where it is planted moist. You should also spray the Silver Queen frequently with a sprinkler to prevent the leaves from drying out, which may cause them to droop and become limp, but be careful not to water too much and cause water accumulation. If the leaves turn yellow and soft, it may be due to excessive watering and root rot. At this time, reduce watering and the leaves will turn green quickly.

4. Reduce fertilization

Spring and summer are the peak growth periods for Silver Queen, and people apply a lot of fertilizer diligently, for fear that the beautiful Silver Queen they raise will not get enough fertilizer and will not look good. But in autumn and winter, the growth of Silver Queen slows down or stops. At this time, if you still fertilize it in large quantities like in spring and summer, it will definitely be harmful to the health of the plant, and the shape and color of the leaves will be affected. In autumn and winter, when Silver Queen's ability to absorb fertilizer is weak, we should reduce the use of topdressing and eventually stop using fertilizer.
