What to do if the Begonia oleifera does not bloom

What to do if the Begonia oleifera does not bloom

1. Temperature and light

Generally, except for a little shade in the summer, it needs sufficient care in other seasons. If there is not enough sunlight, the distance between its internodes will begin to lengthen, and the stems and leaves will become very soft, so it will fall down easily. When the temperature is high, the plant will be in a semi-dormant state, so we must place it in a relatively ventilated and cool place for maintenance. If it doesn't bloom, you need to check whether the temperature and light are not enough, and you must make appropriate adjustments.

2. Improper watering method

It generally prefers warmer and drier places. It is very afraid of stagnant water, high temperatures and is very resistant to drought. Therefore, you should pay attention to keeping the soil moist at ordinary times, and not water too much. So if it does not bloom, check whether the watering method is wrong or you are watering too much. Also, you must reduce watering during the winter, just enough to prevent the leaves from shrinking. If there is too much water in the pot, it will easily cause the roots to rot. Root rot will also make it difficult for the plant to bloom.

3. Improper fertilization method

Spring and autumn are the best time for it to grow. At this time, you must apply thin fertilizer to it once every half a month to provide it with the nutrients it needs. If you do not apply fertilizer in time, the plant will not grow very lush, and it will not be easy to bloom. However, you cannot apply too much fertilizer, especially check whether the nitrogen fertilizer content is too high, otherwise the plant will only grow taller, and the flowering will be reduced or even stop. Therefore, we need to see if this is the reason and take appropriate weight-loss supplements.

4. Damage caused by pests and diseases

If it does not bloom, we should check whether there are insects on it. If there are pests and diseases, they will absorb its nutrients and cause other diseases, making it less likely to bloom. If there are any, you should use some methods to kill all the insects so that it can grow better and bloom faster.
