What fertilizer is good for pepper topdressing?

What fertilizer is good for pepper topdressing?

Pepper topdressing time

1. The amount of nitrogen, phosphorus, potassium and other nutrients absorbed by peppers varies at different growth stages. From seedling to budding, the number of leaves is small and the accumulation of dry matter is slow, so the need for nutrients is less.

2. After transplanting the peppers, you can apply a topdressing fertilizer when watering them. Apply a small amount of water-soluble phosphorus, which is beneficial to the growth of new roots and can increase the survival rate.

What fertilizer to use for pepper topdressing

Peppers have a great demand for fertilizer. From seedling emergence to bud formation, less nutrients are needed. From bud formation to initial flowering, plant growth accelerates and the demand for nutrients increases. From initial flowering to full flowering and fruiting is a vigorous period, when nitrogen fertilizer needs to be applied. From full flowering to maturity, phosphorus and potassium fertilizers need to be added. Nitrogen fertilizer needs to be applied after the mature fruit is harvested.

Should pepper be top-dressed with urea or compound fertilizer?

When applying top dressing to peppers, urea and compound fertilizer can be used. Urea is a very basic fertilizer that can supplement the nitrogen fertilizer needed by peppers. Peppers are a high-nitrogen, high-potassium and medium-phosphorus crop. In order to have sufficient nutrients, compound fertilizer must be used. Peppers can be picked many times after they are ripe, and a large amount of top dressing is needed in the middle and late stages.

Pepper topdressing method

First fertilization : After the peppers take root, the first topdressing can be carried out by applying ammonium sulfate aqueous solution and watering the roots.

Second fertilization : When pepper buds appear, use diluted human feces or calcium sulfate to make an aqueous solution and water it at the roots.

The third fertilization : In May, the first cluster of fruits begins to grow. At this time, more nutrients are needed. It is appropriate to use quick-acting fertilizers, such as human manure and urine for root burning or ammonium sulfate, superphosphate. Mix the above fertilizers and apply them in strips or holes, then water them once.

The fourth fertilization : In June, the temperature is relatively high, and this is the period of vigorous growth. Combined with water supply, fertilizer amount and fertilization method, it can be the third topdressing.

The fifth fertilization : In August, the weather is hot, the growth of peppers slows down, the leaves are light green, the fruits are small and there are few fruits. You can apply human feces or ammonium sulfate aqueous solution.

Sixth fertilization : Top dressing can be done in September. The application amount and method can be the same as the fifth time, which can increase the yield.

Precautions for pepper topdressing

The number of fertilizations can be reduced before peppers bloom, otherwise it will cause excessive growth and cause flowers and fruits to fall off. It is a potassium-loving crop, and sufficient potassium fertilizers should be applied at the end of flowering, fruiting, and before maturity. It is best to use fast-acting, fast-dissolving, safe and environmentally friendly chelated high-potassium water-soluble fertilizers. Calcium fertilizers should be supplemented before flowering and fruiting, depending on the soil conditions of the planting site.
