Cultivation methods and precautions of large-leaf gardenia

Cultivation methods and precautions of large-leaf gardenia

Large-leaf gardenia is a variety of gardenia, which is relatively difficult to grow. It is easy to have black leaves and rotten leaves. Many people cannot grow it well, so it requires more carefulness.

How to grow large-leaf gardenia

1. Pot soil

Large-leaf gardenia prefers to grow in acidic soil, which can be prepared using garden soil, leaf mold, and river sand. For flower pots, you can use clay pots and ceramic pots.

2. Watering

Large-leaf gardenia is relatively moisture-loving. When the soil is dry, it needs to be replenished with water in time. In summer, water should be sprayed on the leaves of the plant to keep them moist. In winter, the frequency of watering should be reduced.

3. Fertilization

Large-leaf gardenia does not have high requirements for fertilizer. A thin, light fertilizer water is best. It can be used once every half a month or so. Use more phosphorus, potassium, and magnesium compound fertilizers.

4. Temperature

The suitable temperature for the growth of large-leaf gardenia is 16-18℃. Temperatures that are too low or too high are not conducive to its growth. Shading and cooling are needed in summer, and insulation measures are needed in winter.

5. Lighting

Large-leaf gardenia is very light-loving. Whether it blooms or not, the plant needs sufficient light. If it lacks light during the growth process, the plant will easily grow too tall.

Precautions for caring for large-leaf gardenia

Although large-leaf gardenia likes light very much, it is recommended not to stay in the sun for more than 7 hours, otherwise the water in the plant may evaporate too quickly, causing it to wither and affecting its growth.
