What to do if the Phoenix Orchid does not bloom

What to do if the Phoenix Orchid does not bloom

Reasons why the pheasant orchid does not bloom

In the northern regions of my country, especially in the northeast and northwest regions, many ground-planted Phalaenopsis orchids will only grow leaves but no flowers. This situation is very common.

The reason why the Phoenix orchid does not bloom is actually related to the climate of these areas.

Due to the influence of temperature and other conditions, the Phoenix orchids grown in northern regions will be dormant for at least 5 months after a year. The Phoenix orchid itself is an evergreen plant that grows all year round with basically no dormant period, so that it can accumulate enough nutrients to meet its needs for growth and flowering. However, in these areas, the dormancy period of the Phoenix orchid is too long, and the growing time is only a short 6/7 months. Therefore, it cannot accumulate enough nutrients and naturally it is difficult to bloom.

What to do if the Phoenix Orchid does not bloom

In fact, in these areas, it is not impossible to make the Phoenix Orchid bloom, because the main problem is temperature, so the temperature conditions need to be changed. There are three methods.

The first method is to plant it in pots. The form of potted plants is more flexible. When the weather gets cold, you can move the potted Phoenix orchid to a bright place indoors, and keep the room temperature high.

The second method is to plant the Phalaenopsis in the ground, but you can dig it out before the frost, put it in a pot and move it indoors. In the spring of the second year, plant it in the pot again. It will usually bloom before National Day.

The third way is to plant it on the south side of the house, which can extend the growth time of the Phoenix orchid. If you want to overwinter it in the open field, you need to take good warming measures. Generally, it can bloom in October of the second year.
