What to do if blue stone lotus loses leaves

Why does blue stone lotus drop its leaves?

Too much water

Blue Echeveria is a succulent plant of the genus Echeveria in the Crassulaceae family. Succulent plants do not like too much water. If watered too frequently, Blue Echeveria will not grow well. On the contrary, the leaves will wither and become soft.

Insufficient light

Blue stone lotus is suitable for growing in places with plenty of sunlight. It likes warm, dry and sunny environment. It is drought-resistant, not cold-resistant, and slightly tolerant to partial shade. If leaves fall off, you can check the leaves. If the leaves are green and blue, it means there is a lack of light. Blue Echeveria is bluish-white most of the year, but the blue becomes more pronounced in sunny conditions and the edges turn pink.

Not acclimatizing after repotting

If the leaves start to fall off or become soft after repotting, and only a few leaves underground are shrinking, then it is normal metabolism. It is just because the plant has not yet adapted to the pot. The roots will be fine after a few days.

Direct exposure

Blue Echeveria will stop growing if exposed to the sun in summer. Although Blue Echeveria needs plenty of sunlight, it cannot withstand direct exposure to the sun. Blue Echeveria has a dormant period in summer, so it only needs to be exposed to scattered light.

Water outage observation

If the water in the pot is obviously too wet, it means you have watered too much. Stop watering for a while and observe. Get more sun exposure to allow the moisture to evaporate as quickly as possible.

Try not to water in the summer. You can use a watering can to spray some water every few days on cool nights. Don't spray it too wet, just spray it with a mist a few times, and it will be enough to wet the soil surface.

Supplemental lighting

If there is insufficient light, just put it directly in the sun for a few days. Of course, avoid strong sunlight at noon and in the afternoon. Jade plants should not be exposed to direct sunlight when the weather is hot.

Cut off rotten roots

When the leaves become soft or withered, be sure to check whether the roots are rotten, which is caused by overwatering or stuffy weather. If some of the roots are rotten, they must be cut off. If all of them have rotted away, you can only plant another pot by cutting leaves.
