How to avoid pesticide damage to plum blossoms

Types of pesticides that plum blossoms are sensitive to and manifestations of pesticide damage

Plum blossoms are very sensitive to some pesticides. For example, 40% malathion emulsifiable concentrate can cause the leaf tips to burn, black spots to appear on the leaves, and all the leaves to fall off in a short period of time, as if they had been scalded by boiling water. 40% oxydemeton-methyl emulsifiable concentrate, if used in excess of a certain concentration, or used under high temperature and strong light, can cause yellow spots, black spots to appear on the leaves, or the leaves to fall off. 80% DDT emulsifiable concentrate , if used in excess of a certain concentration, or used in the young leaf stage, can cause the plum plants to drop leaves or fruits. 90% trichlorfon crystals can also cause leaf fall. Misuse of higher concentrations of long-lasting phosphorus can also cause the plum plants' leaves to burn or fall off. Benomyl, used for disease prevention and control, may cause leaf fall; using Bordeaux mixture during the leaf stage will cause the tips of young leaves to burn; and lime sulfur mixture may cause the tender tips of plum plants to burn or the fruits to fall.

How to avoid the occurrence of plum blossom pesticide damage

① Artificial control

For example, the adult pink-necked longhorn beetles are killed manually, and the larvae of longhorn beetles hiding in the insect holes of branches and trunks are poked to death with wire; the sacs of bag moths are removed manually and burned in a centralized location; the cocoons of yellow thorn moths and green thorn moths are removed manually and crushed; leaves infected with anthrax and brown spot are removed manually and burned in a centralized location; the spots of plaster disease are removed manually and then Daknin cream ointment is applied.     ②Trap and kill pests

For example, by taking advantage of the phototaxis of adult insects, you can hang black light lamps, frequency vibration lamps, etc. to lure and kill adult moths such as spiny moths and bag moths; hang yellow insect traps to lure and kill aphids.

③Biological pesticides

For example, use cotton bollworm nuclear polyhedrosis virus suspension to control bag moth, use Bacillus thuringiensis Bt preparations and green worm fungus to kill the larvae of the spiny moth; use plant-based pesticides such as nicotinic amine, azadirachtin, pyrethrum, and malocaine preparations to kill spiny moths, aphids, etc.

④ Reduce the drug concentration

When using pesticides such as mefenacet, malathion, and omethoate to kill scale insects, it is necessary to reduce the concentration to below the regular usage concentration to avoid or reduce the occurrence of pesticide damage.

⑤Avoid using the drug under high temperature and strong light

Under the conditions of high temperature and strong light in summer, pesticides should be sprayed after 5 o'clock. At this time, the branches and leaves absorb the liquid medicine better and are less likely to cause pesticide damage.

⑥Avoid using allergenic pesticides

When preventing plum blossom diseases and pests, you should try to avoid using pesticides such as malathion, oxymalt, DDT, trichlorfon, monocrotophos, furadan, lime sulfur, Bordeaux mixture, and thiophanate-methyl during the leaf stage. Instead, use pesticides that have the same insecticidal and sterilization effects but will not cause phytotoxicity.
