What to do if succulent plants melt water

Succulent water

Simply put, water erosion is when excessive water or humidity causes leaves and rhizomes to rot, turn transparent, and eventually disappear. To put it simply, succulents that have drunk enough water will expand and contract at high temperatures, causing their cell walls to burst. At this time, the leaves of succulents become transparent from bottom to top, which is called water melting.

If no emergency treatment is carried out at this time, mold will take advantage of the opportunity to invade and naturally cause black rot! In mild cases, only the bottom leaves will become transparent and watery, while in severe cases, black rot will spread from the root to all the leaves. At this time, you can only cut off the head or discard it completely. Especially in summer, when rainfall is relatively abundant, improper maintenance may cause waterlogging problems.

Succulent water treatment method

Fertilization and sterilization

Before summer, the high temperature has not yet arrived. You should add some phosphorus and potassium fertilizers to the succulents to improve their resistance.

When watering, add an appropriate amount of fungicide to the water to purify the internal environment of the soil, reduce the source of bacteria in the soil, and effectively inhibit succulents from becoming waterlogged.

Supplement lighting and control watering

Increase appropriate and necessary light and bottom ventilation to accelerate internal metabolism and nutrient exchange. Before rainy days arrive, water quantity must be controlled in advance. If it is cloudy and rainy for consecutive days, you can consider adding artificial lighting.

Timely ventilation

The most important task in summer is to ensure good ventilation. To prevent the leaves of succulents from rotting, you can spread some volcanic rocks on the soil surface so that the leaves will not rot easily.

The waterlogging of succulents is a warning to succulent lovers: do not just admire the cute appearance of succulents and ignore their maintenance environment. In order to breed more succulents, flower lovers must pay attention to the breeding season. Improper operation will cause the succulents to become waterlogged.
