Disease and Pest Control of Dendrobium sphericalensis

Disease and Pest Control of Dendrobium sphericalensis

Types of pests and diseases

Let’s talk about two diseases first. The first is called "yellow spot disease," which affects the leaves of the plant. In the early stages, we may only observe some not very obvious yellow parts on the leaves. However, if you leave it alone and continue like this, it may form more obvious yellow spots, and even black mold spots may appear. The second disease is called "leaf blight". From the name we can tell that this disease also harms the leaves. Initially, small brown spots will form on the tips of the leaves. In severe cases, many small spots will connect into a large spot, and even cause the leaves to wither and fall off.

Let’s just talk about one kind of insect pest, which is the red spider. I believe everyone has heard of this pest. Many plants may be attacked by this pest.

Prevention and treatment methods

For the first disease, we must first choose the substrate for growing plants reasonably, and secondly, water them reasonably, and avoid overwatering. The next option is to use chemicals for treatment. We can choose 0.75 concentration of 1,000 times dilution of Benomyl for spraying, once every week or ten days, for two to three times in a row.

For the second type of disease, the first thing we need to do is remove the damaged parts. If multiple plants are placed together, the diseased plants must be isolated. Then we need to use medicine. For this disease, we can choose a 75% concentration liquid medicine. Once every ten days, a total of two or three times will be enough.

For the insect pests mentioned above, the main thing to use is insecticide. Choose a 0.4 concentration of 1,200 times dimethoate solution and spray it two to three times.
