What to do if the leaves of dahlia are uneven

Dahlia infected with powdery mildew

From September to November , dahlias are easily infected with powdery mildew, which can cause the leaves to curl and become uneven. Especially during this period, high temperature and high humidity will promote the occurrence of diseases. When the disease is severe, the leaves may dry up or even die.

Prevention and control methods: Strengthen prevention, spray fungicides in time to allow the plants to grow healthily and enhance disease resistance; control watering and increase the application of phosphorus and potassium fertilizers; when the disease occurs, remove the diseased leaves in time.

Dahlia blossom end rot

During the period from peak flowering to flower falling, if the soil moisture is too high and the ground temperature is too high, it will induce flower rot of the plant. The main symptom is that the petals are damaged. The spots only fade green at the beginning, then gradually turn into yellow-brown in the later stage, and then gradually expand to become irregular, and finally turn into gray-brown. At this time, it will also affect the leaves, causing them to become uneven and have spots.

Prevention and control methods: Strengthen ventilation during the growth of the plants. Do not apply too much water and nitrogen fertilizer in the later stage, and apply more phosphorus and potassium fertilizers. After the bud stage, you can choose 0.5% Bordeaux mixture or thiophanate-methyl solution, once every 7 to 10 days, which has a better prevention and control effect.
