Disease control of round-leaf arrowroot

Disease control of round-leaf arrowroot

Sclerotium rotundum

White rot is more common in round-leaved arrowroot. When it occurs, the stems or leaf bases of the plants close to the soil turn brown and gradually rot, revealing white mycelium-like objects that can gradually spread and cause the above-ground plants to wither and die.

The disease is white in the early stage, turns yellow in the later stage, and gradually turns brown or dark brown. Finally, the entire plant on the ground withers. The disease is more serious in July and August, especially when the soil is too moist or lacks fertilizer.

Prevention and treatment methods

You can add a small amount of pentachloronitrobenzene to the soil for disinfection, and cut off the diseased plants when they are fully formed, dig out the surrounding diseased soil, and add new soil; pay attention to maintaining ventilation to prevent the plants from being too dense.

Maranthus rotundifolia leaf spot

Leaf spot mainly affects the leaves of the round-leaved arrowroot and may also affect the leaf sheaths. At the beginning of the disease, small water-soaked spots gradually expand into large reddish-brown spots. The disease can occur throughout the year, with the onset mostly occurring in September-October each year and March of the following year.

Once the disease occurs, a large number of leaves may wither. A series of problems such as poor management, poor ventilation, and overcrowded cultivation may lead to the occurrence of leaf spot disease. The diseased remains of the plants are the source of the disease.

Prevention and treatment methods

Increase the application of basal fertilizer to improve the susceptibility of round-leaf arrowroot to diseases. Remove diseased and broken leaves in time and burn them collectively. You can also use 1000 times solution of 75% Benomyl wettable powder for prevention and control.
