The Legend of Myrtle

In Greek mythology, after Theseus' original wife Ariadne was abducted by Dionysus, he married his aunt Phaedra. However, unfortunately, Phaedra fell in love with Theseus' son, the handsome young Hippolytus. But Hippolytus did not respond to this abnormal feeling and directly rejected Phaedra. Feeling humiliated, Huaydela simply took a rope and hanged himself. As a result, Theseus misunderstood his son and thought he had done something shameful. In a fit of rage, he asked Poseidon, the god of the sea, to kill his son. Hippolytus told the truth before he died, but it was too late. Filled with remorse, Theseus buried his son under the myrtle tree in great grief, and also buried Phaedra there. Because myrtle witnessed Phaedra's struggle for love, out of anxiety and restlessness, she used to pull the young branches of myrtle with her fingers and crush its glowing leaves.
