How to care for and prune pansies after they bloom

How to care for and prune pansies after they bloom

1. Reasonable topdressing

The flowering of pansies consumes a lot of nutrients. After flowering, the growth of the plant has become relatively weak, so top dressing should be applied to replenish the nutrients consumed previously. Because pansies generally consume phosphorus and potassium fertilizers when they bloom, fertilization should also focus on this aspect. Appropriately supplement phosphorus and potassium fertilizers, pay attention to applying thin fertilizers frequently, and never apply concentrated fertilizers.

2. Proper watering

Pansy needs proper watering. Once the soil in the pot is completely dry, it needs to be watered appropriately. One watering needs to be thorough to meet the water needs. In daily maintenance, water appropriately to keep it slightly moist. In sunny weather, spray water in time to keep it moist, but do not spray on the flowers to prevent the petals from withering prematurely.

3. Supplement sunlight

This kind of plant needs a lot of sunlight to bloom, and also needs sufficient sunlight after flowering. If there is insufficient light, it will cause the branches to grow too long, the flowers will wither prematurely, and the colors of the flowers will not be bright and beautiful. After the flowers bloom and gradually wither, they cannot be deprived of light and need to remain in good sunlight.

4. Proper pruning

After the flowers gradually wither, they need to be properly pruned to remove the withered flowers. The branches that have bloomed also need to be properly pruned to reduce nutrient consumption.
