Complete technical guide for artificial hatching of goose chicks

In the process of raising geese, many people hatch the goslings themselves, which can effectively save the cost of purchasing goslings. However, in order to hatch the goslings successfully, you must master the method. Let’s learn about the complete technology of artificial hatching of goslings.

1. Goose egg selection

For goose eggs that are to be artificially hatched, the minimum requirement is to ensure that the eggs are clean and uncontaminated, and to pick out some odd-shaped eggs, especially those that have not been exposed to water, as they will affect the hatching effect.

2. Disinfection of incubator

In order to ensure the health and quality of the hatched seedlings, we need to disinfect the incubator before hatching. Generally, methanol fumigation is used for disinfection, that is, 14 ml of methanol and 7 grams of potassium permanganate are used per cubic meter, and the fumigation lasts about 30 minutes.

3. Preheating

We generally keep the temperature in the incubation room between 22 and 26 degrees. The preheating time is generally placed in the incubator. Before entering the incubator, it will be placed in the incubator for 12 hours.

4. Placement of goose eggs

When placing the goose eggs in the incubator, they must be handled with care to prevent bruises and shaking of the yolk, which may cause dead eggs and poor development during incubation.

5. Temperature

Temperature is the main condition to ensure the normal development of the embryo during the incubation process. The temperature is required to be maintained at 37.8 degrees in the initial incubation period and 37.3 degrees during the hatching period. If the temperature is too high or too low in the early stage of incubation, it can easily cause the death of the embryo in the egg.

6. Flip the Egg

Turning the eggs is to ensure that all parts of the embryo are heated evenly during the development process. Turn the eggs every 2 hours. What needs to be noted is that we need to identify the number, which side is the head and which side is the tail, that is, a sign of up or down. The time interval and the time when the goose eggs are turned, as well as the time and turning angle, should be recorded.

7. Cold Eggs

Cooling of eggs is carried out from the 17th day of incubation by opening the incubator twice a day for 35 minutes each time and closing the hatching door when the surface of the eggs feels cool. If you are not sure about the temperature of the cold eggs, you can use a thermometer to check it. Generally, the normal temperature of cold eggs is between 30-33 degrees.

8. Egg Candling

It is best to conduct the first egg candling on the 8th day, so that the unfertilized goose eggs can be picked out. Because the incubation period of goose eggs is not long, it is possible to tell whether they are fertilized or not. The key is that since the incubation period of unfertilized eggs is only 8 days, the yolk inside has not deteriorated yet, so they can be eaten normally and even sold. The goose eggs are candled for the second time when they are 27 days old. After the first candling, most of the infertile eggs have been picked out. At this time, the main thing is to check the development of the fertilized eggs and pick out those that are underdeveloped.
