How to plant saffron bulbs and when to plant them

1. Planting time of saffron bulbs

It is recommended to plant saffron bulbs in late September to early October. Because the high temperature period of summer has just passed and the weather is relatively cool, the planted bulbs are easier to germinate. Try not to plant its bulbs in summer or winter because the climatic conditions are too bad and will affect the germination rate.

2. Saffron bulb planting method

1. Prepare bulbs: First prepare some relatively round, medium-sized, smooth-skinned saffron bulbs as planting materials. If there is old skin or old roots on the outside of the bulb, it needs to be peeled off and trimmed. Then, soak them in disinfectant for about 30 minutes to sterilize them. Then take them out of the disinfectant and put them in a ventilated place to dry.

2. Prepare the potting soil: When planting saffron bulbs, you need to use soil with certain nutrients and good permeability. After preparing the soil, place it in the sun for about a day to disinfect it.

3. Planting: Put the dried soil into a flowerpot with good air permeability, and then plant the dried bulbs with the tip facing up into the soil. The planting depth should be controlled between 4-8cm.

4. Later maintenance: Move the planted bulbs to a ventilated, warm, semi-shaded place, water them in time to keep the soil slightly moist. It won't be long before they sprout.
