How to propagate alum root and what are the precautions

1. How to propagate alum root

1. Cutting propagation: Alum root can be propagated by cuttings. Cut some healthy, intact leaves with petioles from a healthy mother plant and place them in a well-ventilated place to dry. Then prepare some loose and breathable soil, insert the leaves into it, and slowly maintain it. It will take root soon after.

2. Seed propagation: Prepare some complete, round, and intact healthy alum root seeds and sow them on the surface of soft and breathable culture soil. Then cover them with a thin layer of soil, keep them warm, and wait for them to germinate.

3. Propagation by division: Remove the vigorously growing alum root from the pot, gently shake off the soil, and use a knife to cut it vertically from the base of the rhizome into several sub-plants evenly, and make sure that each sub-plant has a certain amount of roots and leaves. Then, prepare some loose culture soil, plant the seedlings into the soil one by one, and place them in a warm place to slowly care for them.

2. Precautions

1. Not all varieties of alum roots can be propagated by sowing. Only a few varieties of alum root, such as Purple Palace, can be propagated by sowing.

2. Division is usually carried out in spring or autumn when the plant has grown out of the pot. If the plant does not grow well and is weak, it is best not to propagate it by division.
