What to do if the roots of ashwood rot

What to do if the roots of ashwood rot

1. Stop water and fertilizer

A big reason for root rot is excessive application of water and fertilizer. Once the problem is discovered, the application of water and fertilizer must be stopped immediately and no further application should be made. Try to pay attention to this aspect during daily maintenance, and add water and fertilizer appropriately according to the growth trend.

2. Cut off rotten roots

If you find problems with the growth of the ash tree, it may be because the roots are rotten. You need to take the plant out of the pot first to avoid damaging the healthy roots. Use sharp scissors to cut off the rotten roots. Do not leave them on the plant, otherwise it will cause more consequences and may even cause death. After cutting off the roots, wash them in clean water, and apply carbendazim after drying.

3. Prepare new soil

You also need to prepare the new soil and ensure good permeability. You can use peat soil, garden soil, coarse sand, wood ash, etc. to ensure good air permeability. If the material of the flower pot is not suitable, you can also replace it with a new one. It is best to use a clay pot or ceramic pot.

4. Replanting

Replant the treated plants into the pots, gently press the soil to promote regrowth, and pay attention to good maintenance methods afterwards.
