What to do if lavender roots rot

What to do if lavender roots rot

1. Replace the soil

Reason: Lavender roots are not tolerant to water, so the soil must have good drainage. Once water accumulates due to poor drainage, the roots will not be able to breathe and will rot.

Solution: Replace it with loose, well-drained and breathable soil so that its roots can breathe smoothly and water will not accumulate, which is more conducive to the growth of lavender.

2. Reduce watering

Reason: Lavender is not tolerant to moisture, so if you water it too frequently or too much, water will accumulate and the roots will rot.

Solution: Follow the principle of watering when the soil is dry and reduce the amount of watering at normal times. Generally, water once a day in summer and once every 3-5 days in other seasons. Water thoroughly and do not let water get on the leaves, as it may cause disease.

3. Apply fertilizer appropriately

Reason: Many people think that applying more fertilizer will make the plants grow better. In fact, this is not the case. Excessive fertilization will cause root rot. Excessive nutrient accumulation will make it unable to breathe, which will cause root rot.

Solution: Fertilize on time and do not apply too much fertilizer. If you accidentally apply too much fertilizer, you must water the plants in time to allow the excess fertilizer to be discharged as soon as possible, reducing the possibility of fertilizer damage.

4. Adjust the temperature

Reason: If the temperature is too low, the lavender will be frozen, and if there is water accumulation, it will easily cause root rot.

Solution: Adjust the temperature appropriately. The minimum temperature in winter should not be lower than 10℃.
