What to do if the roots of Osmanthus fragrans are rotten

What to do if the roots of Osmanthus fragrans are rotten

1. Root disinfection

If you discover that the plant has root rot, the first thing you should do is knock it out of the pot. Then, rinse the mud off its roots with tap water. Then, cut off the rotten roots. It is best to cut off the dead leaves and aging branches together. Then, soak it in a solution of potassium permanganate for about an hour. Then take it out and let it dry.

2. Replanting

The choice of soil has a great impact. It is best to choose a mixture of pond mud, river sand, and garden soil. Before formal planting, it is best to put the soil in the sun to dry it, which is conducive to disinfection. It should be noted that when planting, some screened river sand should be placed near the roots, about one centimeter thick. Doing this will allow the soil to better bind to the roots, helping them recover and continue to grow. After that, just place it in a properly shaded area.

3. Post-management

Water supply is important. Do not water the roots too much and strictly control it. Generally speaking, one to two times a week is enough. Be careful not to use rain water. However, you can spray its leaves with water four to five times a day. In addition, you need to spray some vitamin solution every week. After about a week, you need to put it in a sunny place and expose it to the sun for about an hour. After that, after about a month or forty days, it will be fully recovered and rejuvenated.
