What to do if the money tree has root rot? Analyze the specific situation!

1. What to do if frostbite causes root rot

Money tree is not frost-resistant. When the temperature is below 5℃ and the soil in the pot is moist, the tender leaves of the money tree will easily be frozen and fall over, which will cause the tubers to rot over time. When the roots of the money tree begin to rot, immediately remove it from the pot and use tools to remove the rotten parts. Then apply clean wood ash on the wound, or you can use diluted potassium permanganate solution (0.1%) to disinfect it. Wait until the wound is dry before planting or repotting. Stop watering afterwards, and resume watering when the temperature rises above 20℃ in the spring of next year. Pay attention to the amount of water and make sure the pot and soil are slightly moist.

2. What to do if the pot soil is too dry and causes root rot

Money tree does not like water, but too dry can also cause root rot. Just water the plants according to the local climate and keep the soil slightly moist. Be careful not to use too much water, as this may prevent the roots from breathing, which will naturally lead to undesirable consequences. However, some people still don’t have a good control over the amount, so here’s a little trick for you. Be sure to wait until the soil is completely dry before watering, and make sure the entire pot of soil is fully watered each time. This way you won't have too little or too much.

3. What to do if excessive water causes root rot

Too much water can also cause root rot of the money tree. After the roots rot, take it out of the pot as soon as possible, shake off the soil and remove the rotten roots, place it in a semi-shaded and cool place for 1-2 days, and then replant it. The pot used should not be too large, and watering should not be too frequent. Keep the soil in the pot 70% dry and control the watering time flexibly. If the root rot is serious, remove the plant from the pot and pour out all the old soil. Soak the plant in potassium permanganate for disinfection, then rinse it with clean water and let the roots dry before replanting.

4. What to do if root rot is caused by unreasonable fertilization

If the roots of the money tree are not well developed after repotting or when it is just purchased, using concentrated fertilizer will burn the roots and rhizomes of the money tree.

The money tree has a small and cute appearance and a beautiful shape. It can absorb impurities in the air and can be placed next to computers and TVs to block radiation. If you like it, you may try to grow one.
