What to do if the roots of the Luanfeng Jade are rotten

What to do if the roots of the Luanfeng Jade are rotten

1. Caused by too wet soil

Many people think that I only watered it with a little bit of water, so why is the root still rotten? That’s because the soil for the Jade Plant may be wrong. It prefers soil with good drainage and strong air permeability. If the soil's drainage and air permeability are not very good, its roots will easily begin to rot. So at this time we have to change the soil. We must find some soil with better air permeability and drainage, preferably sandy loam with a lime texture. Then you can put a small tile at the small hole under the flowerpot, which can make the drainage effect better and prevent root rot.

2. Caused by too much fertilization

In order to make it grow faster, we usually apply a lot of fertilizer, but we don’t know that if we apply too much nitrogen fertilizer or uncomposted fertilizer, it will easily cause its roots to rot. Therefore, when fertilizing it, you must be moderate, not too much. You can increase it appropriately during its growth period, but after autumn or winter, you can apply less fertilizer or no fertilizer.

3. Caused by insufficient light

The phoenix jade prefers a warmer and drier environment, and is also relatively drought-resistant. Therefore, it has a great demand for sunlight. So if it has root rot, you should check whether the place where it is placed is too dark, which will prevent it from absorbing enough sunlight and easily cause root rot. So at this time we have to move it to a place with more sunlight so that it can absorb enough sunlight, so that root rot will not easily occur again, so light is also very important for it.

4. Caused by excessive watering

Do not water the Jade Plant too frequently. If you water it too much, its roots will not be able to absorb the water, and the accumulated water will easily cause the roots to rot. So in the summer, generally once a week is enough. The amount of watering depends on the size of the pot. In the winter, you can go a month without watering. It is better to be a little dry than too wet.
