What to do if the roots of hydroponic pink palm rot

Water and soil conversion for root rot in hydroponic Anthurium

If the Anthurium was previously grown in soil, when switching to hydroponics, be sure to wash the roots clean, and do not add too much water. Only half or 2/3 of the roots will be immersed in water, otherwise the roots will easily rot. Before new roots grow out, change the water frequently and clean up any rotten roots in time. Also pay attention to changing the water more often. When the weather is hot, change the water once every 20 days. When the weather is cold, change the water once every one and a half months.

Water source problem of root rot in hydroponic pink palm

Do not use fresh tap water directly. Leave it for two days to release the chlorine before using it. You can also buy some nutrient solution specifically for hydroponics. If you see that the water becomes turbid when watering, be sure to change the water to keep it clean. In addition, water temperature is also very important. If the temperature is higher than 30 degrees, the saturated dissolved oxygen in the water will decrease and will not reach the critical value required by the Anthurium, causing root rot, so control the water temperature well.

Temperature management for root rot of hydroponic pink palm

The most suitable temperature is 15-25℃. A comfortable temperature will promote growth. The limits of high and low temperatures at the roots are much smaller than those of the branches and leaves in the underground part. Too low temperatures will hinder growth, and too high temperatures will cause physiological disorders. High temperatures will also accelerate the aging of the roots, and bacteria will grow faster, causing root rot. You can add 0.25% hydrogen peroxide to the water for sterilization, which can also increase oxygen.

Reasonable light for root rot of hydroponic pink palm

Don't expose it to direct sunlight, avoid overexposure to the sun, so you can enjoy appropriate shade, put it in a well-ventilated place, or spray some mist to dissipate heat.

When growing Anthuriums hydroponically, it is necessary to control the temperature, humidity, nutrition, light, etc., so that there will be no problem of root rot. I hope the above methods can help everyone.
