How to grow geraniums to make them bloom more

Elements that affect flowering

Watering will affect the flowering of geraniums. If you water too much, water will accumulate in the pot, causing root rot, yellowing leaves, etc., which will reduce or eliminate flowering.

Fertilization will also affect the flowering of geraniums. If too much nitrogen fertilizer is applied, it will cause it to grow too tall and not bloom or bloom less. However, insufficient fertilization will not cause good flowering either.

Temperature, especially the temperature in winter, has a great impact on geraniums. If the temperature is too high in winter, the plant will grow too tall and affect flowering in the second year. If the temperature is too low, the flowers will fall off.

Good light will make geraniums bloom well, but when the light is too strong, the flowers will easily fall off. If there is insufficient light, geranium plants will easily grow too tall and not bloom.

Another thing is pinching. Reasonable pinching will make geraniums bloom better, but during cultivation, the pinching force may be too great or too small, which is very detrimental to the growth of geraniums.

How to make more flowers

The first is to apply fertilizer reasonably. Adequate nutrients lay the foundation for geranium to bloom. A lot of nutrients are consumed during flowering. When growing geraniums, more phosphorus and potassium fertilizers need to be applied, so that there will be more flowers and brighter colors.

The second is to prune in time. When geraniums are young seedlings, you should start pinching the tops so that the plants will grow many branches, which will increase the number of flowers.

The third is to ensure appropriate lighting. Generally, geraniums can be given 5 hours of light a day to promote flowering.
