Causes and treatments of yellow leaves of bougainvillea

Causes and treatments of yellow leaves of bougainvillea

1. Unsuitable soil

1. Reason: The soil has poor drainage, which will cause water accumulation, damaging the root system of Bougainvillea and easily causing the leaves to turn yellow.

2. Treatment method: Replace it with sandy soil with good drainage. You can use leaf mold, garden soil and river sand in a ratio of 4:4:2 to prepare the new soil. Cure it in a semi-shaded environment for a period of time to restore the green leaves.

2. Insufficient light

1. Reason: Bougainvillea is a sun-loving plant. If the light is too weak or the direct sunlight time is too short, the leaves will turn yellow.

2. Treatment method: You can move it to a place with good light and long sunshine time for maintenance. In summer, when the light is strong, it needs proper shade; in winter, it needs at least 8 hours of sunshine.

3. Too little watering

1. Reason: Bougainvillea is suitable for cultivation in a humid environment. If it lacks water for a long time, causing the soil in the pot to dry out, it will easily cause the leaves to turn yellow.

2. Treatment method: First, water it immediately to replenish the water it needs, keep the soil moist but not waterlogged, take good care of it for a period of time, and after it recovers its green leaves, you can water it normally. Under normal circumstances, water the plant once in the morning and once in the evening in summer, once a day in spring and autumn, and control watering during winter dormancy, just keep it slightly moist.
