Causes and treatments for yellow leaves of moon rabbit ears

Causes and treatments for yellow leaves of moon rabbit ears

1. Too little watering

Reason: Moon rabbit ears have a greater demand for water during the growth period. If you water too little, or water only half of the time or miss watering for a long time, the evaporation of water from the leaves will be greater than the absorption, resulting in a water supply shortage, which will cause the leaves to turn yellow.

Solution: Move the flower pot to a cool place, spray some water on the leaves, and water them lightly. Wait until the stems and leaves gradually regain their uprightness, then gradually increase the amount of water to allow it to resume normal growth. Rehydrate slowly. If you suddenly water the plant too much at this time, the plant may not be able to adapt all of a sudden, which may make the situation worse.

2. Insufficient light

Reason: Moon rabbit ears love light very much. In a dark environment, it is likely to grow too tall, become weak, and its leaves will become thinner and yellow, affecting its ornamental value.

Treatment: Place it outdoors in a sunny or semi-dark place for maintenance and supplementary light. In addition, during the maintenance process, in addition to avoiding direct sunlight, full sunlight is also acceptable. Shade is only needed in the summer when the light is strongest.

3. Excessive fertilization

Cause: Excessive fertilization, especially excessive nitrogen fertilizer, can easily cause the leaves of the plant to turn yellow.

Solution: Stop fertilizing immediately, increase watering, let the fertilizer flow out from the drainage holes, and reduce the fertilizer concentration in the soil. When it is difficult to dilute the fertilizer concentration by watering, replace the potting soil immediately and replant the plants for maintenance.

4. Temperature is too high

Reason: Moon rabbit ears like warmth and don’t like a stuffy growing environment. If the temperature is too high, the transpiration of its leaves will be abnormal and they will turn yellow.

Treatment: Move the plant to a cool and ventilated place, and then spray water on the leaves to lower the temperature. During normal breeding, the temperature of the growth environment should be kept at around 20℃-25℃. Especially in summer, do not place it in a place that is too hot, and pay attention to ventilation. The temperature in winter should not be too low, preferably around 10℃.
