Causes and treatments of yellow leaves of white lotus

Causes and treatments of yellow leaves of white lotus

1. Lighting issues

Reason: The white lotus is light-loving and likes to grow in an environment with plenty of sunlight. If it is kept in an environment with insufficient sunlight, its leaves will turn yellow due to lack of sufficient light. But in summer, it still needs shade, otherwise it will be sunburned and the leaves will turn yellow.

Measures: If it is due to insufficient light, you can move it to a place with sufficient light for maintenance. If it is because the light is too strong, move it to a cool place with diffuse light in time.

2. Moisture insufficiency

Reason: The amount of water needed to be controlled when watering the white lotus. During the growing period, it has a relatively high demand for water, so you need to increase the amount of water. If there is not enough water, the leaves will turn yellow. In summer and winter, its demand for water is not high and it does not need too much water at this time. However, if there is too much water, exceeding its normal needs, or if water splashes onto the leaves, it will cause problems such as yellow leaves.

Measures: If it is because of insufficient watering during the growing period, you can increase the amount of water appropriately. When you see that the surface of the soil is a little dry, water it to moisten the soil. If it is caused by excessive watering in summer and winter, you should drain the water in time and loosen the soil to allow the water to evaporate faster. In normal autumn and winter, you can water less, and there will not be any big problems if you don’t water it.

3. Temperature discomfort

Reason: The white lotus needs to be kept in a relatively warm environment. The high temperature in summer will accelerate the evaporation of its moisture, causing it to be sunburned and its leaves to turn yellow. If the temperature is below zero in winter, you should not water it, as it will easily get frostbite and the leaves will gradually turn yellow.

Measures: During the high temperatures in summer, shade it and move it to a well-ventilated and diffused light location. When the temperature continues to drop in winter, it is best to move it to a sunny place indoors for maintenance.
